Rik Wenham is a specialist in road risk management and Director of RW Transport Consultancy Ltd, working in partnership with SHC to brigade experience and collective knowledge to support the transport industry with expert risk reduction strategies.
With 30 years of service as a Metropolitan Police Officer, Rik’s career was defined by operational excellence in roads policing. He served as the lead officer of the Metropolitan Police Commercial Vehicle Unit until its closure in 2026, overseeing high risk commercial vehicle operations across London and was the lead for abnormal loads.
Rik has been recognised internationally for developing and delivering the multi award winning “Toolbox Talk” presented to more than 70,000 transport professionals worldwide. His work has been credited as a key factor in achieving a sustained 62% reduction in commercial vehicle fatalities in London and a 12% reduction nationally, and in 2024 he received the National Police Chiefs’ Council Award for Outstanding Contribution to Road Safety.
